Rotary Swimarathon organised by the Rotary Club of Polmont

The Swimarathon is a team sponsorship event open to people of all ages and abilities.

Teams of up to 6 people swim in relay for 55 minutes, complete as many lengths as possible and get their friends, colleagues and families to sponsor them.

The aims of the Swimarathon are threefold:

• to raise monies for local charities and deserving causes.
• to encourage people to swim and thereby perhaps begin a healthy activity.
• to ask swimmers to help the less fortunate in our Community by obtaining sponsorships whilst taking part

The 2016 Polmont Rotary Club Swimarathon was very busy with 150 swimmers organised into 30 teams all swimming to help Radio Forth´s Cash For Kids appeal.

Provost Pat Reid opened proceedings the swimmers were drawn from Schools and local businesses. The Rotary District Governor Andrew Ireland, a member of Polmont club, along with his wife Jacquie also participated. A total of 3730 lengths, 93,250 metres or 58 miles, was achieved in the time allowed.

The winning team for 2016 was SP Energy who completed 203 lengths between them, with Denny High School team in second place with 200 lengths.

We raised £8500 last year and we hope to equal or better that this year. All the money raised will go to supporting sick, disabled and disadvantaged youngsters aged 18 and under in the Falkirk area.
